You are absoutely right Tom! As to most people unable to be in a calorie deficit, it is actually what's called "faddism" - there are many that believe that a calorie deficit alone isn't enough. See most of the other responses - most don't even understand the concept of an energy deficit.
And the miasma of misinformation, just google how to lose fat and gimmicky exercises, fad diets and ads show up as opposed to the one basic thing - a calorie deficit.
I am trying to do my bit by educating people and even if one person benefits from this, my mission is successful.
