Yes, as a passionate gymrat and strength trainee myself, my workouts last anywhere between 1.5 to 2.5 hours every day.
And this does burn a good amount of calories, around 600-800 if my fit band is to be trusted.
But, the act of staying active throughout the day can do absolute wonders - create difference in the thousands if you go from being an absolute couch potato to an always moving person.
