Well as the saying goes, "History is written by the victors". Much of this could be false. In fact it is full of holes. How in hell did she think she could marry the senaor and get away with it.

She supposedly went years, sneaking out and having sex and could have done the same without angering claudius.

This seems like something cooked up to explain her execution.
