Well, another side to this is - some men prefer the old-school (but time-tested and proven) way of man earns money and takes care of outside matters + the woman takes care of the home and kids.
In such a case, if the woman works as well, it becomes a challenge to manage household work + adequately care for the kids.
I wouldn't want my (future) wife to work for money. But if she can manage the house, take adequate care of the kids, and still work part-time on her passion, then why not?
Again, the idea that a "housewife" is a derogatory position is modern bullshit.
My mom has never worked a job and is a "homemaker", and she's one of the women I respect the most.
