Very interesting - WHY not walk away from it and respect that gut feeling then?

I understand sunk cost, pressure, and the whole societal drama part - but if this is such a certain feeling, I see myself walking away, even if it's the last moment...

Or maybe, it's that treacherous all-too-human hope that maybe things will turn out different?
