Spot on. This sentence in itself deserves an article of it's own. When someone feels the need to say something, it's most often that they are facing some sort of cognitive dissonance within. Someone that keeps professsing that they are genuine proly wants to be genuine but actually aren't.
Sure, this isn't always the case as on the flip side - people that are genuinely proud of one or more of their qualities can also announce them from time to time.
