Seems as if getting people married and keeping them married no matter what seems to be in society's best interests - even here in India, getting a divorce is a lengthy process.

Worse still, the judges encourage the couple to NOT get divorced for as long and as intensely as they can. So, it's a cumbersome process - that goes against our culture too in a way.

Getting normalized more and more now, but don't know if it's for the good or bad - it's the richer or middle-class folks who get away with divorces easily anyway
