It's sad because so-called "career counselors" are folks who've never had careers themselves (?)
How in the living world people trust and take advice from those with no (past/present) skin in the game is beyond me - the qualification seems to be "successfully counselled" X other people...
It's like saying I have zero skin in the game and have compelled X people to put their skin on the line - and that gives me the chops to tell Y more people to put their skin on the line.
The only one(s) who can give advice on ANYTHING are ones who've had (extensive) first-hand experience with that same thing.
