Yes, good looks and loyalty are def among the top few atttributes most men (if not all) would value in a woman, but there are more as well.
A "lesser" good looking woman who's articulate, intelligent, kind, and positive might be a better choice than the plain "looks" woman.
It's all a matter of individual perspective and preference.
Coming to the standards, we aren't "enforcing" them truly. It's our biology as well. We're wired to value good looks in a romantic partner, MORE SO as a man in a woman.
