I think it's about the pathway of the mind (Sages) vs the pathway of the heart (Saints) - I've heard they both "converge" at some point (it makes sense too)

But most "masters" are sages and not saints (Like Gandhi, Teresa, and more). The only "saint" I know of who was also a master was Paramahamsa Yogananda.

Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadutt Maharaj, and Buddha were all Sages.

I've experienced inner Silence too - but never as powerful as to incapacitate my speaking for a whole month.
