I am a voracious reader and I devour books. I find that I barely remember the plot or contents of a book I read a couple of months back.

Agreed that I do takeaway something permanent from every book but consciously I seem to miss a lot.

The idea about the commonplace book being a resource of ideas for us writers is brilliant.
