I agree with the inner intent of this article. Small business had a more familial personal feel. But so did families, towns, and holdings in the past. A household meant a family, the extended family, apprentices, tutors, servants, etc.
But with the advent of individualism, man has become the center piece - individual rights over everything else. And you can't say this has been bad.
Similarly, capitalism isn't perfect, heck, far from it but it's what has worked decently well. Pure socialism and communism are failures.
Again, a better system would be the one in Sweden, a socia-capitalist thing where basic amenities and oppurtunities are provided for everyone up until a certain age.
And after that, it's capitalistic, each earns according to his/her potential.
It's equality of oppurtunity, not equality of outcome that will move the world in a better direction
