I am also a strong proponent of being genuine be it an apology or life in general.

Not apologizing is in fact better than a shallow fake sorry.

We tend to throw a sorry and expect the other person to forgive us forgetting the fact that we aren't entitled to anything. Entitlement is easily one of the evils that plagues most of us humans

A true apology comes only when you genuinely regret what you did, want to make amends and want to seek forgiveness.
